2013… WTF????

Smallest Dog with Biggest Computer

Yup, it’s 2013 already and I’m celebrating by sitting in my underpants in my rapidly heating house with my two new favourite things. A brand new iMac with the most ridiculously massive screen (thanks to the Sally Isaac Award I won mid last year) and the tiniest puppy dog you ever did see. A chihuahua cross papillon that we’ve cautiously named; Harriet Chalmers Adams. After the American woman who, when she was refused entry into the National Geographical Society (due to her being a woman) started her own geographical society just for women. She was also known for her adventures around the world, exploring and investigating what there was to discover. Harri is named in her honour after demonstrating a particular love of adventuring within her first few moments with us. On entering the car and quavering in a lap for a few seconds she proceeded to climb my friend’s shoulder and survey the world like a parrot for the rest of the journey home. She even did a little tight rope walking across our arms from one shoulder to the other as we drove. So please welcome the newest member of the feminaust family. Who knows, she might even do some blogging of her own. “The world through the eyes of a feminaust puppy!”

But now, on to bigger and better things!!!

So what are your plans for 2013? feminaust has BIG plans, starting with this list of feminaust new years resolutions…. and gratuitous puppy photos…..;

  1. Write more posts about how awful Tony Abbott is and more importantly how awful a

    prime minister he would be. 2013 will be an election year and the Gillard Government on occasion appears to be hanging on by the skin of its teeth. Not a good position for feminausts if they like eg: the ability to control their own bodies, a Prime Minister who has at least some respect for their ability as leaders or the remotest of chances that any forward movement will occur in climate change policy… positive movement I mean, of course. It should of course be noted that many feminausts are Greens supporters and so many articles will be written about how preferential voting means you CAN make some noise about the issues that really matter.

  2. Show Us the Money!! In 2013, feminaust will make definitive moves to develop a grant making arm. This will take some resolve, lots of hard work and of course, money. But more about that later in the year!
  3. More and Different. Now that MsElouise has a brand new pooter to play with we’re hoping for more posts, more often and of course a whole different kind of post, particularly more podcasts and some vodcasts. Along, of course, with the kinds of posts you’ve grown to know and love including more friday feminausts. So if you’ve ever thought of writing for us and aren’t sure how, a friday feminaust is the perfect start. Check them out here.

Well that’s all from me. I’m returning to study in 2013 so I’ll have plenty to keep me occupied and hopefully also plenty to write about!!

Hope you all had a fabulous new year and Christmas period. From feminaust we wish you a great festive season and look forward to lots more feminaust love in 2013. xxx
