La Roche college fair

More than 100 colleges and universities will participate in the North Pittsburgh College Fair from 6 p.m. to 8 p.m. on October 4 at Kerr Fitness & Sports Center at La Roche University in McCandless.

One of the largest college fairs in western Pennsylvania, the fair will host universities, colleges and technical schools from across the country.

High school students and their parents will have the chance to meet with representatives from each school to learn more about their campuses and academic programs.

Presented by La Roche and the Northern Area Counselor’s Consortium, the fair is organized by several local school districts: Avonworth, Fox Chapel Area, Hampton, North Allegheny, Northgate, North Hills, Pine-Richland and Shaler Area.

Parking for the event is free and masks are required inside.

Women’s business network

Women’s Business Network is an award-winning business association that supports the success and growth of women in business through networking, education and leadership opportunities. Guests are welcome to attend a meeting free of charge. To learn more, visit wbninc.com.

Activities of the Sinking Land Museum

• The Hydref Fall Festival & Market Fair will take place at the Depreciation Lands Museum from 11 am to 4 pm on October 2nd.

Street vendors and demonstrators of 18th century products will be on hand to share their wares and conversation. Pet the farm animals and listen to live period music throughout the day.

Have a delicious lunch in the Deacon’s Tavern and take time to chat with the residents of Talley Cavey at home, at work, and while enjoying the fair. There will be activities for children.

Tickets can be purchased online or at the door. The cost is $ 5; $ 3 for children under 12. DLMA members are admitted free of charge

• Lantern tours are scheduled from 6pm to 9pm on October 16 and 23 at the Depreciation Lands Museum, featuring “Mostly True Tales from Old Talley Cavey”.

A walking tour of the cemetery and village of Talley Cavey will take place by lantern light. Hourly prepaid tickets are required. Order them online at dlmuseum.org.

Pumpkins for sale

The annual Pumpkin Festival and Flea Market takes place from 8 a.m. to 1 p.m. on October 9 at the Ascension Lutheran Church on Peebles Road.

Freshly baked apple and pumpkin pies will be on sale as well as hot dogs, ham barbecues and other goodies.

Veterans Day 5k

The 16th Annual Operation Troop Veterans Appreciation Day 5K Run / Walk will be held on November 7 in Hampton Community Park.

Trophies and prizes are awarded to the first place man and woman in the general field as well as in the Masters category. Medals are awarded to the top three (men and women) in each of the 13 age groups. There is also a large assortment of creative and unique door prizes.

Race funds are used to provide care packages for troops on active duty.

Farmers market

The Hampton Township Farmers Market is open from 3 p.m. to 7 p.m. Wednesday through October 13.

It offers local products, honey, baked goods, spices and a variety of other items.

Food trucks will be on site several times throughout the season, with notices posted on the township website.

The Farmers’ Market is located in the Hampton Community Park at 3101 McCully Road.
