Srinagar, March 19: The Multipurpose Public Health Workers (FMPHW) of the Department of Family Welfare today staged a protest against the administration demanding the release of their pending salaries for the past four months.
Health workers from various districts gathered in the press enclave and staged a protest against the authorities for the delay in releasing monthly salaries.
“It is pure injustice as we are constantly working hard for the good of society. Our wages have been withheld and we are being hurt on a daily basis. We have served as frontline workers during the pandemic and instead of recognizing our efforts , we are bound to be in a state of depression,” said one of the FMPHW Neelofar.
They said their problem was the salary that had been pending for four months. “We work without pay because of which our families suffer. Authorities should take note,” they said.
They said the budget session is currently underway and they hope the central government, LG administration along with the health and family welfare department will look into the matter and sort out the issues involved.
They said they are facing difficulties as the authorities have not released their salaries for the past four months, even though they said they took loans from banks and without a salary they are not in able to repay them. “We are unable to afford our children’s regular tuition and college fees,” they said.
