Fundraising to honor women broadcasters – The Royal Gazette

A Mother’s Day celebration this Sunday will honor six women in Bermuda broadcasting.

Activist Gina Spence said the group Strength for The Journey Ministry will host the fundraiser, from 1 p.m. to 4 p.m., at the Willowbank Resort Conference Center in Sandys.

Lunch is accompanied by entertainment.

Ms Spence said the event will celebrate broadcasters Shelley “Thunder” Johnson, Kristy “Miss Thang” Joseph, Shirley Dill, Zarah Harper, Nikita Robinson and Beverley Howell.

Entertainment includes MC Mr Magic, jazz artist Shine Hayward, Vance Goater and Septimus.

The celebration is accompanied by the unveiling of the ‘Against All Odds’ award in memory of Mrs. Spence-Virgil’s mother.

Lunch is from 1 to 3 p.m., with the awards ceremony at 4 p.m.

Lunch and show tickets are $100, while show tickets are $65.

Proceeds will go to community outreach for the Gina Spence Productions charity.

The at-risk children and families program also provides food, bereavement counselling, school uniforms, Christmas toys and medicine to elderly people in need.

A same-day antigen test must be presented at the door.
