UCC appoints another woman as pro-vice-chancellor

Prof. Rosemond Boohene

The University of Cape Coast (UCC) has appointed Professor (Ms) Rosemond Boohene as the new pro-vice-chancellor.

This was announced in a statement signed by Mr. Jeff Teye Onyame, Registrar and Secretary of the University Council Secretariat, and with a copy to the Ghanaian News Agency.

This appointment was made at a special meeting held on Wednesday November 24 at the University.

Professor Boohene, currently director of the Center for Entrepreneurship and Small Business Development at the School of Business, is expected to take office on Saturday, January 1, 2022.

She succeeds the outgoing pro-vice-chancellor, Professor Dora Edu-Buandoh, whose mandate ends on Friday, December 31, 2021.

Professor Ms. Boohene has served the institution for the past twenty-four years.

She graduated from the University of Cape Coast with a Bachelor of Commerce (Honors) and Diploma in Education.

She holds a PhD from the University of New England, Armidale, Australia, MCom (Accounting) and PDipCom (Accounting) from the University of Otago, New Zealand.

Professor Boohene also studied at Galilee College, Israel and Open Polytechnic, New Zealand, earning a Diploma in SME Management and Development and a Certificate in E-Learning Facilitation and Design (Level 5) respectively.

She has also been Head of the Department of Management Studies, Associate Dean of the School of Business, Dean of International Education, University of Cape Coast, and Visiting Professor at Bonn-Rhein-Sieg University of Applied Sciences, in Germany.
